A RAIN OF SHINING STARS TO HELP AMATRICE'S EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

Amatriciana Day 2017

A year on, solidarity for Amatrice (central Italy) continues to gain momentum. Twelve months from the first 'Amatriciana Day', the charity evening organised in Florence on the terrace of Forte Belvedere to raise funds for the people affected by the earthquake that has devastated central Italy, returns to Florence on September 7. The event, organised by members of the World Gourmet Society in Tuscany, brings some of the most renowned chefs in Florence and Tuscany together once again.

The evening program includes a buffet dinner open to the public, with donations entirely devoted to the restoration of the Amateur Agricultural Pole building, which — until the moment of collapse — promoted agri-food studies and research.

Together with pasta all'amatriciana, guests will also be able to taste 'signature' dishes created by the 16 chefs, namely: Gabriele Andreoni (Gurdulù), Fabio Bianconi (Castello del Trebbio), Matteo Barciulli (Osteria di Passignano), Silvia Baracchi (The Falconer), Peter Brunel (Borgo San Jacopo), Massimiliano Catizzone (Villa La Palagina), Simone Cipriani (The Essential), Stefano Frassineti (Toscani da Sempre), Paolo Gori (From the Burde), Andrea Perini (Al 588), Stefano Pinciaroli (Ps), Maria Probst (La Tenda Rossa), Filippo Saporito (La Leggenda dei Frati), Marco Stabile (L'Ora d'Aria), Edoardo Tilli (Podere Belvedere), and Giorgio Trovato (Siena). Considering the participation of such a prestigious group of chefs, the event has been awarded the support of the World Gourmet Society, which on October 23rd will also hold the World Final of the Best Plate Challenge, again in Florence.

The evening is being made possible by the contributions of many suppliers, some of which we would like to recognise: pasta all'amatriciana is made available by catering 'Guido Guidi', while baker-hero of 'Bread, love, and fantasy' Lul Vulashi will challenge our taste buds. With wine by Ruffino and Tenuta Moriano, chocolate from world champion Andrea Bianchini, coffee by Mokaflor roasting, ice cream from Vetulio Bondi and Paolo Pomposi (Badiani). Divise & Divise will design special aprons, which will be gifted to each participating chef.

Finally, the World Gourmet Society would like to give a special thanks to the Municipality of Florence for hosting this initiative in the Forte di Belvedere, the bar staff at the fort, and everyone providing the surveillance during the event.
