I’m thrilled to share that after 30 years of living and working in France as a chef and tour operator in the beautiful Southwest, I’ve launched a new venture: The Lovey Chef LTD, based in Bristol, UK. Our mission is to bring the joy of gastronomy to life through our private chef services, tailor-made cooking classes, and curated gastronomic tour itineraries across Europe.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s the rich and diverse food traditions that truly connect us to our cultural identities. My culinary journey has taken me around the globe, exploring everything from Michelin-starred restaurants to the vibrant street food of Vietnam. I still vividly recall my adventures in Tokyo, where I savored unique dishes like chicken backbone cartilage in a bustling salaryman’s bar. For me, being a true gourmet means diving headfirst into every culinary experience life has to offer, embracing both food and drink with open arms.
With The Lovey Chef LTD, I aim to offer visitors an authentic glimpse into what it’s like to live in a foreign country, whether they’re here for a short visit or a longer stay. I strive to create memorable experiences and insights that guests can carry with them long after their travels. Too often, we rush through our journeys and miss the true essence of a place and its culture. Food is a vital link to understanding how it’s grown, what it’s paired with, and the rituals that surround it. Food culture is the heartbeat of daily life, shaping how people live, work, and eat—it defines who we are and the societies we inhabit.
I’m eager to connect with fellow food enthusiasts who share my love for gastronomy and culture. The nickname my friends have given me, "The Loveychef," perfectly captures my enthusiasm. Whenever I step outside, whether to find a rare vegetable brought back from near extinction or learn about a new grape variety planted here in the Languedoc (56 at last count), I’m filled with excitement.
I also want to give a nod to my father, Robert, a true gourmand, whose passion for food has inspired me to follow in his footsteps.
Thank you for allowing me to share my journey. I look forward to connecting with you all and exploring the wonderful world of gastronomy together!
Warm regards,
Angus
