Childhood memories of helping my nan to bake cakes, pies, blackberry and elderflower picking for the homemade wine she used to make, being up at the crack of dawn with her and my mum so I could help them make the sandwiches to cater for the masses that were coming to whichever charity event they were organising at the time. It's because of all of these fantastic opportunities that I guess you could say that being a food lover is just in my blood and an innate part of who I am! My food journey started back in high school when I completed a cake decorating course on a Wednesday evening in year 8 at 12 years old - I was always the youngest of my year group. After helping my nan out for so long with her cakes and bakes - it was like second nature to me. Stemming from this course, I went on to begin to produce all kinds of celebration cakes offering a bespoke design service - weddings, birthdays, valentines cakes - you name it! A great little pocket money earner through my school and college years! I opted to take Food Technology as one of my GCSE subjects in year 9, and I loved every minute of the course. This led on to my first part time jobs when I left high school - working in a busy catering cafe on a Saturday and taking as many shifts as I could as a glass collector, bar tender and waitress at a local sports and social club throughout college. Fast forward a short time and you could find me managing a hotel/bar/restaurant in the centre of Harrogate. Casual pub dining in the daytime and transforming into a fine dining restaurant at night and weekends, hosting weddings and other events whenever required. Alas life took me in a completely different direction after this for many years, however my love for food has never been forgotten. I have had the pleasure of dining at some of the worlds top restaurants, sampling amazing street food and indulging in some of the best casual dining meals you could ever hope to be served! I love to frequent any foodie festivals, roadshows or pop up events whenever possible. It feels fantastic to finally be back in the kitchen after so long away and to be training to do something that ignites my passion! At the moment I've no clue where this road is leading but I'm more than happy to enjoy the ride!
